Travel to North Wales

The A55 North Wales Expressway runs along the coast from the M56 near Chester to Holyhead, making the whole region easy to reach. Allow around 1 hour 45 minutes from Manchester or Liverpool to Llandudno, and just over two hours to Bangor. From the Midlands, the A5 through Shropshire brings you straight into the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia).

Direct services from London Euston reach Chester in around two hours, with regular Transport for Wales connections along the North Wales coast line to Llandudno, Bangor and Holyhead. The Conwy Valley line runs from Llandudno Junction to Betws-y-Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog — one of the most scenic railway journeys in Britain.

Holyhead is one of the UK's busiest ferry ports, with regular crossings to Dublin operated by Irish Ferries and Stena Line. If you're arriving from Ireland, a holiday cottage in Anglesey or on the North Wales coast is less than 30 minutes from the port.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport are both around 90 minutes' drive from the North Wales coast, with car hire available at both. Anglesey Airport also offers a domestic connection to Cardiff for onward travel within Wales.
